On this day every year I enjoy a variety of musical styles: James Taylor’s “The First Day of May” and Roxy Music’s “Whirlwind” and, oh, what’s that song about May in Camelot again? Ha hah!
It is also National Day of Prayer. Let us join our hearts and voices in prayer with other believers as we continually pray for our communities, our leaders, are nation, and this world.
In a week and a half, our nation will celebrate Mother’s Day. I’ve enjoyed our more recent tradition of inviting paricipants in the congregation to share memories of or words of honor for their mothers. If you would like to say some kind words about your own mom, you are certainly welcome to do so. Just show up and we’ll have a microphone ready for you. If you’re unable to attend and you would still like to share some words, please feel free to send me a note or email, and we’ll be sure that those thougths are read. This might be especially nice if you are out of town, but you know that your mom will be in worship.
This Sunday we will celebrate communion and hear God’s word for us: “Welcome in the New.” As always I look forward to seeing you all!
