I leave in a few minutes to go to the airport and fly to San Jose, CA, in order to officiate a wedding in Olema, CA. Many years ago, I was on staff at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church of Newport Beach and I had the good fortune of discipling a group of young men from their freshman year in high school through their senior year. One of those young men is the groom for this wedding. I’m so blessed to participate in this special day.
Allison Becker will be preaching this coming Sunday. Allison is the daughter of Bob & Linda Becker, the twin sister of Laura Rutherford. Allison is a child of the church and has now completed all the requirements of the Presbyterian Church (USA) to become ordained as a Minister. FPCSA has supported her during her inquiry and candidacy, and with her theological education. So I am thrilled to welcome her into the pulpit. I hope you will come to hear God’s word to us proclaimed by this dear member of our church family.
I’ll be back the next Sunday (9/22) to continue the sermon series, “A Different Sort of Savior.”
Also on that Sunday, the 22nd, there will be a reception for Tony & Annie Lugo in McFarland Hall at 11:30 a.m. They are moving to Orlando, Florida, in October. Everyone is welcome to come and celebrate the Lugos!
The afternoon of the 22nd, we will have the second installment of our piano recitals offered by Michael Sanders: “Prelude in the Afternoon.” These concerts are free and open to the public.
