Tuesday night I started playing music for the children on McFarland patio and the kids went crazy: dancing, singing, laughing, jumping, running, clapping. Such joy and energy. Check out the crew that helped serve breakfast last Saturday and me surrounded by children this past Tuesday. Such fun!
You can still volunteer on Tuesday evenings (just show up). “Chris & John” are performing for our guests on Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00; the “Chris” of this duo is our own Chris Briskorn. We’re also doing a Drive-In Movie Night for the Mercy House children on Friday, March 18th, at 6:30.
The words on the marquee outside First Presbyterian Church on Main Street in Santa Ana seem appropriate for the site of the Mercy House emergency shelter program that houses the Rileys at the end of the day. “Jesus Was a Homeless Man.”
Don’t forget that Sunday begins Daylight Savings Time so be sure to spring forward.
I’m proud of the work FPCSA is doing in the city. Proud of all of you who are supporting this work. I pray God continues to richly bless us, even as He blesses others through us!
Hope to see you all on Sunday. I’ll be interviewing Juan & Maribel Salgado as we continue our series on immigration: “I Was a Stranger.” And I’ll be singing my original song, “Give Me the Eyes of Jesus.” I’m looking forward to it.
