New series & Hispanic Ministry Growth

New series & Hispanic Ministry Growth

Dear FPCSA Family & Friends,
Tomorrow is the first Sunday of the month!  Plan to have bread and cup ready to celebrate the Lord’s Supper during worship.  And if you have a birthday and/or anniversary in September, please write that down in the comments.  We start a new sermon mini-subseries, still connected to the Beyond These Walls theme: The 4 Pillars of the Church.  I’m really looking forward to digging into this topic.
Six months ago, our Personnel Committee was interviewing candidates for the Director of Hispanic Ministry position.  Then COVID-19 hit and life came to a screeching halt.  At the time, the Rev. Hazael Sanchez (the husband of deacon, Ana Contreras) offered to post a sermon in Spanish every week.  Session agreed and Personnel voted to pay him a stipend for his work.  After some time, the Hispanic Ministry requested weekly Bible Studies via zoom, so Pastor Hazael’s responsibilities were expanded.  He started attending weekly staff meetings.  In August, the session voted to further expand his responsibilities with our Hispanic Ministry.  Tomorrow, 9/6, Pastor Hazael will be assisting in our live stream worship.  I’m very excited to have you all meet him!  He is a sweet, gentleman with good education and communication skills.

Continue to pray for our Personnel Committee as we seek God’s choice for Director of Youth Ministry.  In the meantime, Scott Overpeck and I will be putting a plan together for our young people.  We may be contacting some of you to record a video to use in our youth ministry.  Thank you for your willingness to support our youth during this transition.
Looking forward to “seeing” you all tomorrow!

In Christ’s Love & Service,
Rev. Dr. Lance E. Allen, D. Min
